Creator Commentary

I wrote The Promised Moon as a response to my own feelings of isolation after moving halfway across the country. My partner and I had a mistaken impression of our new hometown and were struggling to make any new friends or connections. I chose the title both as a reference to being promised the moon, because we had buit it up to so much more than it could possibly be, and the idea of the promised land.

A major difference between this comic and most of my other work is the inking style. I favor inking with a brush because of its expressive quality, but for The Promised Moon I felt that technical pen was more appropriate to convey the intended mood.
