Inktober is a month-long challenge every October. The objective is to complete one ink drawing daily, with no prescribed expectation regarding the type or complexity of each drawing.
Typically when I participate in Inktober, I choose some sort of unifying theme. In 2013, I did all drawings with black ink and a brush, aiming for a consistent style. In 2014 I gave myself a challenge to improve my lettering, with each day not truly a drawing but instead a small quote or phrase. In 2016 I approached the challenge with a little more variety: I wanted to do a combination of surreal and abstract work, with a few more straight-forward comic style pieces.
Some of the pieces in this gallery are also featured in my main gallery, or served as a starting point for visual works made later. My main purpose in participating in Inktober is to challenge myself to approach my art a little differently so that I grow as a creator.
