Ink Drawing entitled '...And The Men Wept' by Shannon Dybvig.

...And The Men Wept

Creator Commentary

I was inspired to draw this piece by the absurd lack of representation of heroines and people of color in stories, especially fantasy tales. It is also unreasonably common for only women to be allowed to display emotions such as sorrow, even though everyone can experience that feeling, so I want to portray men who are openly emotional. In this specific scene, the men are weepy and the women beam with pride as the warrior, a woman, bids them goodbye prior to leaving for battle. I love how fearless she is.
